Technature
Can a painting embody nature's non-purposive evolution and culture's purposive change? Are some representations of nature given the power to say something, to have meaning-or "be" nature-and others denied the ability to stand for anything beyond a mere physical existence of their referents? In addressing these questions, my work combines observation with the collecting of empirical knowledge and lends itself to broader discussions about the role of perception in image making.
